How to Handle Nosy Multiples Questions?

Question by wash: How to Handle Nosy Multiples Questions?
Since becoming pregnant with triplets, I have entered the world of nosy multiples questions. We did have an IUI and that is how we have our beautiful babies, but I have found that I don’t always want to share this and shouldn’t always have to share this with co-workers, strangers and acquaintances, so I am trying to come up with some standard responses. Any suggestions? I just think it is inappropriate to ask about someones reproductive issues. Has anyone else had to deal with this?

  1. When someone asks, just ask them “does it matter how we got them?” Ask them a question back that makes them feel stupid for asking. Or say something sarcastic like “do you want to know what position we used as well?”

  2. Just tell them the truth…no point in lying it leads to more lies. its a small world and people hear things through the grapevines anyways! avoid making things up its childish!

    CONGRATS! your a lucky woman

  3. Congrats!
It happened to me and I am only carrying one.

I was married 7 months and when I told my boss that I was pregnant, He said “Wow that was fast, weren’t you using BC”. Tell about Awkward!
    It’s no one’s business!
Tell them, God has blessed us with three beautiful babies!
    And leave it at that.

  4. Tell them GOD gave you a gift and you are a very lucky women 🙂
They will probably be good with that and so will you because it is not like you are lieing.

    🙂 Have fun!!

  5. I have IVF twins . . .

When people say, “oh you must have twins in your family” . . . I usually just smile and say yes. Technically it is true, there are twins in the family . . . that simply has nothing to do with how we got ours.

Most of the time, I simply smile and say that we had “a bit of help from science” and then change the subject.

Another response I used was, well the sperm and egg met (true) and WHAM – twins (in your case triplets) . . . guess we have been blessed! SO . . . (and then ask them something rude and personal)

Congrats and best wishes for a happy & healthy pregnancy!
